Friday Five: Fall Races

Happy Friday! I took a few days off this week (minus an all day meeting Thursday) to run errands and organize. It went pretty well, but I need at least two more weeks (/months) to tackle large projects. This week's Friday Five with Mar, Cynthia, and Courtney is Five Fall Races. I have a few fun races on my list:

September 7: Run 4 the Health of It
Okay, not technically fall, but I've never run on Labor Day before. I'd love to get a 4 mile PR, but I'm running 12 this Saturday so my legs will probably feel pretty heavy.

September 19: Indy Women's Half Marathon
I signed up on a whim and Alex and I are turning it into a mini-anniversary trip. This is my first all female event and my first out-of-state half. I don't think I'm ready for a PR attempt (oh man, it's two weeks away!), so I'll probably run by feel. Post race, Alex and I plan to eat and drink our way through Indianapolis.

October 17: Loveland Half Marathon
This is my PR half. I love small towns, small races, and fall color. As an added bonus, I paid $28 for my entry! I'm really hoping to "feel it" the morning of and run another PR. My training's been okay, but maybe not PR worthy. We'll see...

October 25: OSU 4 Miler
The end of the race is ace: runners enter OSU's football stadium through the team tunnel, run onto the field, and finish on the 50 yard line. I want to top my previous OSU 4 Miler time and get a decent race photo on the field. I also hope the medal is related to this year's National Championship win.

Wild card(s):
Trying to figure out which Turkey Trot to run: cash in a free entry 20 miles away or run the race a mile from our house. (We have to drive to Cleveland for dinner.) I'm also considering the Broke Man's Half at the beginning of October. It's a $25 local race and it would replace my 12 miler two weeks before Loveland. I was going to skip my 12 miler because we'll be out of town doing a stair climb, but I think I need to mentally prepare for running the entire half and may use this race as a training run. Decisions, decisions...

What is your favorite fall race? Do you run repeat races to track progress?

  2. $28 for the half entry is a steal! I opened the webpage and I liked the graphic they had for the race. I like to run repeat races, although I am trying to diversify b/c there are so many I want to try.

  3. Whoa! A $28 half? That is such a bargain! My favorite fall race is Ragnar Tennessee in October. I can not wait! I'm hoping the temperatures are in the 50's!
